A place where history meets with nature. An appealing tour, between ancient graves dug in the rocks and a river which flows between two quarries. This area, which is situated in the province of Siracuse, is part of the UNESCO heritage.
- We start the excursion visiting the Byzantine Village, which is dug in the rock, where there are ancient dwellings and the ruins of a church.
- We will reach the Bat Cave, which is 270 metres long and is the home of many bats.
- Afterwards, we walk close to the river, crossing the vegetation and looking at the necropolis.
- We’ll arrive in the ruins of an ancient palace which dates dack to XII century B.C., the Anaktoron, from which we can look at the quarries.
- After a break, during which you have the chance to have a swim in the river, we’ll have a lunch with typical food.
- While listening to the history of the Pantalica’s Necropolis, we will arrive to the Filiporto Necropolis made of one thousand graves.
- We will visit another byzantine village, Saint Micidiario Church where you can look at the frescos.
- We’ll also visit the Cavetta from where you can look at troglodyte houses and admire the stunning view. Then we’ll visit the Crucifix Cave to see the remains of a crucifixion, this cave was used as a church.

Trekking shoes or sneakers, swimsuit if you want to have a swim.
